ToiletMartin PaperParr Book, Toilet Paper - Limited Edition with satin scarf

Availability: In stock

Limited edition, accompanied by a satin scarf, of the book celebrating the collaboration between Toilet Paper and Martin Parr.

This luxurious book compiles the images resulting from the photographic exchange between, on the one hand, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari and, on the other hand, the British photographer Martin Parr. The founders of Toilet Paper asked their prestigious guest to create a dialogue between their images and his own photographs. The result is presented in the form of an ironic, subversive and disturbing game of correspondences, which makes this publication a captivating object with strongly addictive power.
Limited edition of 300 numbered copies.

Founded in 2010 by Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari (The Dictator), Toilet Paper is a magazine without equal. In the wake of Permanent Food and Charley, the cult projects of Cattelan, Toilet Paper, part artists' book, part magazine, questions our contemporary obsession with images by exploring our most unspeakable desires and impulses. Consisting exclusively of photographs, each of which is painstakingly constructed within a specific mental environment, Toilet Paper perverts the codes of media iconography, borrowing from fashion, advertising, cinema, combining commercial photography, twisted visual narratives and surrealist imagery to create a series of striking paintings, mixtures of disturbing normality and disturbing ambiguity, in front of which dread mingles with visual pleasure. A work of art in itself, Toilet Paper also questions, through the accessibility of the magazine format and its wide distribution, the nature and limits of the contemporary art market.
Edited by Maurizio Cattelan et Pierpaolo Ferrari (concept and images).
