Olivier Mourgue is a French designer recognized throughout the world for his ability to accurately combine the taste for comfort and beauty through
creations combining futurism and pop-art. He is the designer of famous models such as the Djinn lounge chair in 1964 featured in Stanley Kubrick's film “A Space Odyssey”; and the 1972 Fourre-Tout series which are also legendary pieces. A graduate of the Boulle School and the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, Olivier Mourgue has worked for large companies such as Renault, Mobilier International and Airborne. He was also a professor at the Brest School of Art.
Olivier Mourgue has received numerous awards for his achievements such as the National Grand Prix for industrial creation in 1991 and the First International Design Award. Like his brother Pascal Mourgue, also a designer, the furniture they designed during their careers are exhibited today in very beautiful museums such as the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York or the MoMA.
