The garden gnomes from Ottmar Horl
Who is Ottmar Horl?
Ottmar Hörl, a multidisciplinary German artist, is internationally recognized for his avant-garde style, a bit PopArt. His daring pushes him since his beginnings to undertake gigantic and radical projects in new places with his sculptures, happenings (stagings) of serial sculptures, photographs or other conceptual objects.
Its goal is to offer a type of art accessible to all and to democratize it thanks to simple materials such as PVC.
“I don't see culture as a concept hierarchical. "
Based on the concept of "sculpture as a principle of organization" and the idea of multiplication and expansion, he suppresses the elitism of classical art, by the reproduction, the multiplication of his works of art, this which will earn him numerous awards.
Also very involved in the world of Fine Arts, he is one of the founding members of the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, created in 1999, of which he became president in 2005.
He was also a founding member of the Fomalhaut group in 1985: a design, art and architecture studio. There he collaborated with other architects on impressive design constructions such as Living Room : a contemporary residence in the medieval center of Gelnhause in Germany.
His works range from the famous dwarfs who make a middle finger to animal heads (real dimensions) all in color!
Its collections revolve around famous personalities, animals, religious folklore, monuments etc.

The provocative dwarves
Synonymous with bad taste, the garden gnome has often had a kitsch reputation.
It was in the 1980s that Ottmar Horl began to take an interest in this kitschy symbol of the garden of our elders, but it was in 2005 that he democratized it and finalized its current design.
Over the years and through exhibitions, Ottmar Hörl's dwarf has adopted new attitudes: praying hands (the dwarf Ben), the waving hand (the dwarf Welcome), the blind, deaf or mute dwarf (the dwarves See Nothing, Hear Nothing or Say Nothing,), hands with V-shaped fingers (the dwarf Victory).
Nicknamed Ben or Sponti, this traveling, provocative and rock'n'roll gnome has had a huge success since its creation in 2005. He was popularized by influencer François Dequidt aka Pog (@pogforever on instagram) who is fond of vintage cars who adorns his cars with garden gnomes fingers of honor.
Indoors and outdoors, this is the kind of object that will make its effect and send your decorating routine to a softly sassy note.
Tested and approved!
All you have to do is choose the color: red, green, blue, pink ...?
And promised: in real life, they are very nice.
