1 / How to make a cushion?
It is not very complicated to make a cushion, especially if you have a sewing machine. Here is the necessary material: fabric (the quantity will depend on the size you want for your cushion), scissors, thread in the color of the fabric, a sewing machine (preferably), a tape measure, and padding for cushions. When you have everything you need, follow these steps. Step 1: Cut out two identical squares of fabric in the size you want your cushion to be. Add 1 cm more on each edge for the seam. If the fabric is fraying, zigzag stitches around the edges. Step 2: Put the pieces on top of each other, right sides together, and machine sew three of the edges (straight stitch). Step 3: Turn the cover over by the edge you haven't sewn. Step 4: Stuff the cushion; for this, use a polyester padding. You can also insert a cushion that is already ready to change just its cover. Step 5: All you have to do is close the cover. On a sewing machine, sew the two edges together; don't forget to backstitch each end of the seam to keep it secure. It's over, you just have to test your cushion! If you are looking for an armchair, consider the Charles Eames armchair, available on our site!

If your cushion is not removable, you will have to be more vigilant. In order not to damage it, we advise you to wash it by hand. Start by tapping the cushion to remove any dust. Then, immerse it in a large basin or a tub of lukewarm water with Marseille soap. Knead your cushion so that the water / soap mixture is well encrusted inside. Rub on stained areas. Empty the water from the basin / tub, and fill it with lukewarm water to rinse the cushion; knead it again, and repeat this step until the water is no longer soapy. Then air dry your cushion, taking care to pat it down from time to time so that the padding is not too flattened.
